General's Compressed Charcoal are extra smooth, and most conveniently used by breaking into smaller pieces. The flat edge may be used for broad strokes, or sticks may be sanded to a fine point for detail work. Drawing may be blended with a soft point, such as a paper stub, tortillion, or chamois.
